Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., recently shared insights into his discussions and initiatives addressing community support and disaster prevention. Between April 30 and May 1, 2025, he highlighted various topics he has been actively involved in, including interactions with key stakeholders and legislative efforts in Congress.
On April 30, Congressman Murphy met with independent insurance agents and brokers represented by the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America. He emphasized the importance of ensuring community support after natural disasters by stating, “Good to meet with independent insurance agents and brokers from @IndAgent to discuss how our communities can be supported after a natural disaster. With hurricane season around the corner, we must ensure those back home have access to affordable and adequate coverage.”
Later that day, he addressed the socio-economic issue of managing health care costs. Through a conversation with the group representing community pharmacies, Murphy underscored the financial challenges faced by individuals, indicating that “No one should have to choose between filling a prescription and putting food on the table.” He also mentioned his efforts to engage Congress in holding Pharmacy Benefit Managers accountable to help lower healthcare expenditures.
On the following day, May 1, 2025, Congressman Murphy highlighted the issue of coastal erosion in Rodanthe, North Carolina, where since 2020, several homes have been lost to the sea. He called attention to legislative shortcomings by noting that “These disasters could be prevented, but homeowners cannot receive compensation from the NFIP until after their home is destroyed.” He expressed pride in introducing legislation aimed at addressing this issue.
Congressman Greg Murphy is a Republican representing North Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District, which includes coastal areas like Rodanthe. Murphy’s initiatives center around disaster preparedness, health care affordability, and coastal management.
