Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., shared updates on recent activities and meetings through his official Twitter account, addressing healthcare reform, hospital accountability, and disaster recovery efforts in North Carolina.
On September 16, 2025, Murphy posted about a meeting with orthopedic surgeons from North Carolina. He stated, “I had the pleasure of meeting with several orthopedic surgeons from North Carolina to discuss Medicare payment reform, prior authorization reform, physician-led hospitals, and research funding. I am grateful we have so many surgeons advocating for our patients.”
The following day, September 17, 2025, Murphy commented on a congressional hearing regarding tax-exempt hospital spending. He wrote, “The @WaysandMeansGOP Oversight Subcommittee held a hearing this week on tax-exempt hospital spending that fails to provide adequate community benefit, as required by law. Some institutions of medicine have lost sight of their core mission. It is time for accountability.”
Later the same day, Murphy referenced ongoing recovery work after Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina (WNC). He said: “Nearly one year ago, WNC experienced the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene. I joined members of the NC delegation, Governor Stein, and Staff, @NCEmergency, and @WNCRecovery to discuss the continuing restoration efforts to rebuild after this impactful natural disaster.”
Gregory Murphy has represented his district in Congress since winning a special election in 2019 against Allen Thomas. He was subsequently re-elected in 2020 over Daryl Farrow (63.4% to 36.6%), in 2022 over Barbara Gaskins (66.9% to 33.1%), and most recently in 2024 against Gheorghe Cormos with a significant majority (77.4% to 22.6%).
