Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., posted a series of tweets on September 15, 2025, addressing issues in medical education leadership, commending advancements in patient care research, and criticizing China’s international classification as a developing nation.

In his first post at 15:49 UTC, Murphy expressed concerns about current leadership in medical education organizations. He wrote, “The only way to achieve ‘equity’ is through excellence. Especially in medicine. Its has been negligent leadership at @AAMC @acgme and https://t.co/0CQrhfBjE8 through arbitrary policies that have led to the demise in medical education standards. Time for major changes.”

Later that day at 19:45 UTC, Murphy highlighted his meeting with the Chairman of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) at East Carolina University and a member of the American Academy of Physiatrists (AAP). He stated, “It was great meeting with the Chairman of PM&R at ECU and member of the @AAPhysiatrists. I am glad that the AAP is leading the way in research and education to improve patient care for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.”

At 20:20 UTC on the same day, Murphy commented on China’s global economic status. He said, “For decades, China’s economy has grown to become the second largest in the world, but ridiculously, it is still classified as a developing nation under many treaties and international organizations, including the UN. That must change. Read my latest @reflectornews”

Gregory Murphy has maintained his seat through several election cycles: he won against Gheorghe Cormos in 2024 with over three-quarters of the vote; previously defeated Barbara Gaskins in 2022; Daryl Farrow in 2020; and Allen Thomas during a special election in 2019.
