Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., shared a series of posts on September 15, 2025, discussing Medicaid policy and recent changes affecting state oversight of the program.
In one post, Murphy stated, “The states now have regained the power to do what they should have been doing all along. Preserve Medicaid for those who truly need it.” (September 15, 2025).
He also commented on federal restrictions during the previous administration: “Sadly, during the Biden Administration, states were forbidden to audit their Medicaid rolls, leading to millions of individuals receiving benefits who simply did not fit eligibility criteria. Such is fraud.” (September 15, 2025).
Addressing ongoing efforts for reform, Murphy added: “We had an excellent discussion on the need for reform and how best to plan for appropriate apportionment of Medicaid dollars as payment changes. Lots of work to be done, and this was an excellent beginning.” (September 15, 2025).
Gregory Murphy has served as a U.S. Congressman since winning a special election in 2019 against Allen Thomas. He has subsequently secured re-election in general elections held in 2020 against Daryl Farrow, in 2022 against Barbara Gaskins, and most recently in 2024 against Gheorghe Cormos.
