Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., has voiced concerns on social media about the impact of Medicare policy changes on private medical practices and patient access to treatments. In a series of posts dated September 3, 2025, Murphy highlighted what he described as detrimental effects of ongoing reductions in the Medicare fee schedule and new drug reimbursement policies.
On September 3, 2025, Murphy stated: “We have witnessed the decimation of private practice medicine because of the never-ending cuts to the Medicare fee schedule. These negligent cuts further threaten the viability of oncology, rheumatology, and neurology practices.”
He continued his critique in another post on the same day: “Under the Inflation Reduction Act’s Medicare Drug Price Negotiation Program, Part B drug reimbursements will be crushed and patient access to life-saving drugs will dry up. That’s why I introduced the Protecting Patient Access to Cancer and Complex Therapies Act “
In a follow-up message posted moments later, Murphy expressed appreciation for legislative support: “Thank you to @DrNealDunnFL2, @RepAdamGrayCA & @RepBuddyCarter for supporting the Protecting Patient Access to Cancer and Complex Therapies Act.”
Gregory Murphy has served as a U.S. Congressman since winning a special election in 2019. He was re-elected in subsequent general elections against Allen Thomas (2019), Daryl Farrow (2020), Barbara Gaskins (2022), and Gheorghe Cormos (2024). His most recent victory came in 2024 with 77.4% of the vote.
