Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., representing North Carolina’s 3rd district, shared his reflections and congratulations through a series of tweets. These posts highlight both a somber remembrance and commendations for educational excellence, as well as a statement on public health policy.

On February 13, 2025, Congressman Murphy commemorated “Young Waterfowlers’ Day” by honoring the memory of eight individuals from Carteret County who lost their lives in a plane crash while returning from a hunting trip. In his tweet, he stated: “On this Young Waterfowlers’ Day, we remember the 8 beloved North Carolinians from Carteret County whose lives were tragically taken in a plane crash coming back from a hunting trip. We honor their lives and may God bless their families.”

Later that day, Murphy praised two educators from Craven County, Elizabeth Hodge and Nardi Routten. He specifically congratulated Nardi Routten for receiving the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. Murphy expressed: “Craven County is lucky to have Elizabeth Hodge and Nardi Routten, two outstanding educators! It was also a pleasure to formally congratulate Nardi on receiving the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.”

On February 15, 2025, Congressman Murphy congratulated Louisiana on its approach to vaccination decisions during the pandemic. Emphasizing personal choice in healthcare decisions, he tweeted: “Congratulations Louisiana!! I said this over and over again during the Pandemic. The decision to get vaccinated should be between a Doctor and a Patient, not a Government and a Citizen.”
