County of Pitt issued the following announcement on Nov. 1.

Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be held before the Pitt County Board of Commissioners at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2022 in the Eugene James Commissioners Auditorium, Pitt County Administration Building, 1717 West Fifth Street, Greenville, NC, pursuant to the provisions of NCGS 158-7.1, to consider economic development incentive appropriations for the purpose of aiding and encouraging industrial development.  

This is in reference to an economic development incentive grant for Project Pitt in an amount equivalent to 50% of the net increase in ad valorem taxes paid by the company for a five-year period, with a cap of $1,800,000.  The incentive would be contingent upon investment of $100,000,000 in Pitt County and the retention of 189 existing jobs at the existing Pitt County location during the grant period.

The benefits to the public expected to be derived from the development project as a result of the incentives being considered include:  the enhancement of the tax base and the retention of jobs in Pitt County.

The public is invited to attend the hearing at which time there will be an opportunity to be heard in favor of, or in opposition to, the above item.
