Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., has recently addressed several healthcare issues through his official Twitter account. Representing North Carolina’s 3rd congressional district and over 76,000 veterans, Murphy discussed topics ranging from veterans’ affairs to healthcare billing and Medicare Advantage oversight.

On July 23, 2025, Murphy reaffirmed his commitment to veterans in a tweet: “As the representative of over 76,000 veterans, I am committed to being your voice and delivering on America’s promises to you. Thank you to @MVadvocacy for stopping by my office to discuss how Congress can help improve VA services.”

Later that day, he commented on medical billing legislation: “The No Surprises Act was signed into law to eliminate surprise medical billing, but it’s not being enforced as Congress intended. I introduced the bipartisan No Surprises Enforcement Act to crack down on insurers defying the law. We must put American patients first.” The No Surprises Act was designed by Congress to protect patients from unexpected medical bills; however, enforcement challenges have led lawmakers like Murphy to seek additional measures.

On July 24, 2025, Murphy addressed concerns about Medicare Advantage practices: “When you abuse the privilege of helping deliver healthcare in this country, there are consequences. It is well known that there have been abuses in the Medicare Advantage system, however, the practices still have continued. Justice will be served.” Allegations of improper billing and abuse within Medicare Advantage plans have drawn scrutiny from both federal agencies and members of Congress.

Murphy’s recent statements highlight ongoing debates in Washington regarding enforcement of healthcare laws and oversight of government programs. As a physician and legislator with a focus on health policy, he continues to advocate for patient protections and accountability within federal health systems.
