Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., has recently used his social media platform to highlight both community engagement and policy concerns. In a series of posts between July 29 and July 30, 2025, Murphy shared updates ranging from local events to national healthcare issues.
On July 29, Murphy expressed appreciation for a local baseball team, stating, “Thank you to the @mhcmarlins Morehead City Marlins for inviting me to throw out the first pitch! I enjoyed spending time at the ballpark and watching some great baseball.”
The following day, Murphy acknowledged a significant milestone in U.S. healthcare policy. He wrote on July 30, “July 30th marks the 60th anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid, critical programs that provide health coverage for millions of Americans. We must preserve the financial viability of these programs for future generations. Read my latest in @WashTimesOpEd:”
Later on July 30, Murphy addressed concerns about insurance companies’ practices in the healthcare system. He posted, “Sadly the nation’s insurance companies are not responding to correct their abuses. They have dishonored their role in helping people get health by putting profits over patients. What will it take to reform them?”
Murphy has represented North Carolina’s 3rd congressional district since winning a special election in 2019. He secured re-election in subsequent years with significant margins: defeating Allen Thomas in 2019 with approximately 61.7% of the vote; Daryl Farrow in 2020 with about 63.4%; Barbara Gaskins in 2022 with nearly 66.9%; and Gheorghe Cormos in 2024 with roughly 77.4%.
