Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., recently used his social media platform to highlight legislative developments, local public safety initiatives, and community events. Murphy, who has represented North Carolina’s 3rd congressional district since 2019, posted several updates between July 31 and August 2, 2025.

On July 31, Murphy expressed support for a policy change by former President Trump regarding trade regulations. He stated, “I applaud President Trump for eliminating the de minimis exception that allowed foreign nations to dump cheap goods into our country and undermine producers. I’m glad elements of my bill, the End China’s De Minimis Abuse Act, were included in the OBBB to support America first.”

The following day, Murphy acknowledged advancements in emergency response technology within his district. On August 2 he wrote, “Onslow County has adopted a new program called RapidSOS to help first responders better identify callers’ exact locations through an optional video feature. Thank you to Onslow County Emergency Services for utilizing innovative ways to keep our citizens safe.”

Later on August 2, Murphy turned his attention to local sports events in Greenville. He congratulated participants of the Little League Softball World Series (LLSWS), stating: “Congratulations to all of the athletes competing in the LLSWS here in Greenville. A special good luck to our own 12U All-Stars from Pitt County Girls Softball Little League!”

Murphy’s continued engagement with both national policy and local affairs follows a series of electoral victories. In 2024, he won re-election against Gheorghe Cormos with over three-quarters of the vote; previous elections saw similar margins against Barbara Gaskins in 2022, Daryl Farrow in 2020, and Allen Thomas in a special election in 2019.
