Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., a U.S. Representative from North Carolina, shared a series of posts on his social media account in early August 2025, addressing topics ranging from military appreciation to political commentary and concerns about youth mental health.

On August 4, 2025, Murphy commemorated the anniversary of the United States Coast Guard with a message expressing gratitude: “Happy 235th Birthday to the @USCG. Since 1790, the Coast Guard has shown immense bravery and dedication in serving our nation. Thank you to the men and women in uniform and your families for your service.”

The following day, August 5, Murphy made a statement regarding former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s roles in what he described as “the Great Russian Hoax.” He wrote: “The bandage is being pulled off on @POTUS44 Obama and @HillaryClinton for their lying to the public on the Great Russian Hoax. Time for America to know the truth.”

Later that morning, Murphy commented on contemporary mental health issues among young people. In his post, he stated: “Sad commentary of the mental issues of today’s youth by Woke Medical Institutions @JournalofEthics Forced lockdowns. Vaccines for everyone. Climate Anxiety. Medical Cancel Culture. Extinction Medicine (?) is what follows such thought. Tragic.”

Murphy has represented North Carolina’s third congressional district since winning a special election in 2019 against Allen Thomas with 61.7% of the vote; he subsequently secured re-election victories over Daryl Farrow in 2020 (63.4%), Barbara Gaskins in 2022 (66.9%), and Gheorghe Cormos in 2024 (77.4%).
