Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., a practicing board-certified urologist, shared his professional insights on prostate cancer and its diagnosis through a series of tweets. His posts emphasize the importance of comprehensive medical examinations and caution against politicizing medical diagnoses.

On May 18, 2025, Congressman Murphy highlighted the limitations of relying solely on blood tests for prostate cancer detection. He stated that “A man with a ‘below normal’ PSA can still have prostate cancer. This is why a rectal examination by your physician must ALSO be done.” He expressed concern over some doctors neglecting this critical examination in favor of only using blood tests.

Later that day, he tweeted about his experience as a urologist and provided thoughts on President Biden’s recent diagnosis. In his tweet at 23:53 UTC, Murphy wrote, “I’m a practicing board-certified urologist and have taken care of prostate cancer patients for decades. Here are my thoughts on President Biden’s diagnosis: https://t.co/Z0f9AZYSuL”

In another tweet shortly after midnight on May 19, 2025, Murphy addressed concerns about political interference in medical matters. He remarked that while he agreed with some critiques regarding President Biden’s mental acuity being obscured, it was “medically reckless to assume his prostate cancer was as well.” He called for separating politics from medicine.
