Congressman Greg Murphy has expressed support for the recent passage of H.R. 4553, the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. The legislation aims to address domestic energy production, improve reliability, reduce spending, and enhance national security.

“Under the Biden Administration, domestic energy production and mining operations were blocked and shut down, increasing our dependence on China and other foreign countries for critical minerals and resources,” said Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. “While America leaves needed metals and fuels in the ground, Beijing controls nearly 60% of the world’s critical mineral production. House Republicans and President Trump promised to increase our energy independence, and we are putting the American people first every step of the way.

“I proudly supported Energy and Water Development Appropriations for FY2026 to help unleash American energy dominance, improve our domestic energy reliability, cut wasteful spending, and protect our nation’s security. Importantly, I am grateful to have secured $4,222,000 in federal funding for operation and maintenance on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway in North Carolina.”

Congressman Murphy has maintained strong electoral support in his district over several election cycles. In 2024 he won against Gheorghe Cormos with more than three-quarters of the vote. In previous elections since 2019 he also defeated Barbara Gaskins, Daryl Farrow, and Allen Thomas by significant margins.
