90,465 residents die in North Carolina in 2016

There were 90,465 North Carolina residents who died in 2016, a 1.5 percent increase over the previous year, according to data obtained from the National Center for Health Statistics.

In 2015, 89,133 North Carolina residents died.

The National Center for Health Statistics is the nation’s primary health statistics agency. The CDC and other health-related organizations can use NCHS data for a variety of ends.
