TOWN OF FARMVILLE: Town of Farmville and the Governor’s Stay At Home Order

Town 0f farmville1000x667

Town of Farmville recently issued the following announcement.

On March 27, 2020, Governor Roy Cooper issued Executive Order 121 which ordered all residents of North Carolina to remain in their homes except for performing essential work and essential activities such as taking care of others, obtaining necessary supplies, and for health and safety purposes. It is hoped that the Stay at Home Order will help slow the spread of COVID-19 and prevent the medical system from being overwhelmed by keeping individuals from being exposed to the virus and keeping those who have the virus from spreading it to others. This order goes into effect at 5pm today, Monday, March 30.

Please know that the Town of Farmville is responsible for enforcing this order within the Town limits. However, the role of the Farmville Police Department will be to educate our citizens on the importance of adhering to the Governor’s Order and staying home unless it is absolutely necessary to be away from home. Farmville police officers will not be out stopping citizens in the community solely based on the Executive Order. However, if you are stopped for another offense, you will be educated on the stay at home order.

Do not leave home unless you have to do so. If you have to leave home to complete essential tasks, please remember to use social distancing and never be in a group larger than 10 people.

The ultimate goal of the Town of Farmville is to ensure that all citizens are safe and we as a community do everything that we can to stop the spread of COVID-19.

During this time, the Town of Farmville will continue to provide essential services for our community while protecting the health and safety of our employees and residents. All Town buildings remain closed to the public until further notice and the public is urged to conduct Town business online, by telephone, or via US Mail or e-mail. Call 753-5116 if you have questions.
