With many states and major cities implementing curfews and even shutting down non-essential businesses, many Americans are left unable to work.
This is especially true for those who are employed by restaurants, which have been forced to close or restrict dine-in service due to the lockdowns and curfews implemented to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
To help laid-off workers, the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation has launched the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund. According to a Facebook post by Rep. John Bell (R-Greene County) the relief fund will provide $500 grants to restaurant industry employees. The grants will be for those who have been affected financially, whether through the loss of wages or employment, by the COVID-19 virus.
The grants will be distributed to individuals who apply and meet the RERF eligibility requirements.
The RERF's nationwide fundraising drive will be led by celebrity Chef, Guy Fieri, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the grant and helping impacted workers.
Founding Partners of the Fund include the light foundation, Uber Eats, PepsiCo., Constellation Brands, and Boston Beer Company.
