North Carolina Rep. John Bell (R-Greene) was critical of another weekend of protests in Raleigh.

"Once again, destruction and mayhem was allowed to continue in North Carolina's capital city over the weekend — with dozens of businesses damaged, American flags burned and 'Death to the pigs' spraypainted on walls," Bell said in a Facebook post. "At the same time, Gov. [Roy] Cooper was resting comfortably in his downtown mansion just a few streets over. This does not have to be our North Carolina!"

Protests are largely in support of Breonna Taylor, a black medical worker who was killed by Louisville police during a drug raid.

This is the second wave of protests this year, the first coming in late May after the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man in Minneapolis, at the hands of police.

Though at times violent because of ralliers and agitators, protesters have called for equal treatment of Black Americans and social justice.
