Pitt County ranked 60th among counties in North Carolina by annual earnings per resident, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The median income of Pitt County residents was $23,895 per year, adjusted for inflation. It had 69,169 households with a population of 177,372.

The county with the highest median resident income in the state was Wake County with $37,825 per year after adjusting for inflation – $13,930 more than Pitt County. It had 390,498 households with a population of 1,046,558.
