Pitt county Schools issued the following announcement on Aug. 14.
Effective Tuesday, August 17, 2021, masks will be required to be worn inside Pitt County Schools buildings and on transportation by students, staff and visitors. This decision follows presentations from the Pitt County Health Director, the Pediatrician in Chief at Maynard Children's Hospital and the president of Vidant Medical Center. Presentations, Board discussions, and a majority Board vote occurred today during our regularly-scheduled Board Work Session and Special-Called Board meeting. The mask requirement aligns with medical recommendations made today as well as the recommendation of the NC Strong Schools Toolkit, which can be found here: https://covid19.ncdhhs.gov/media/164/open
