There were two gas stations in cities across Pitt County selling premium gas at the lowest price of $4.09 per gallon in the week ending May 4, according to GasBuddy.com.

The average cost of premium gas in cities within Pitt County was $4.19 per gallon.

Of the 21 gas stations in cities within Pitt County, five offer premium gas.

The $4.15 average price of premium gas in North Carolina was unchanged from the previous week.

Experts predict gasoline prices could drop below $3 this year before rebounding closer to $4 by year's end. GasBuddy forecasted a national average of $3.38 per gallon, down from $3.51. An outlook published in late 2023 suggests that gas rates will continue to fall in 2024.

Gas data refers to the price of gas when paid for by cash, not credit. Gas stations can charge drivers more for using credit cards due to surcharge fees. This is prohibited in 10 U.S. states.

While data is accurate as of press time, note that gas prices can fluctuate daily or even hourly.
