North Carolina State Representative Gregory F. Murphy stated that the Biden administration "opened America's borders" to gain "more Democratic voters" and asserted that "no one in the country illegally" should be able to vote. Murphy made his statement in a June 22 post on X.

"The REAL reason Biden (His staff) opened America's Borders," said F. Murphy. "Enlist more Democratic voters. NO ONE in this country illegally should be allowed to vote."

Murphy's comment was in response to a report by Fox News, which highlighted concerns raised by Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen about President Biden's federal policies, particularly Executive Order 14019. According to Allen, this executive order allows illegal immigrants and non-citizens to register to vote by broadly interpreting the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) of 1993. Allen cited an incident where a deceased relative received a voter registration form, indicating that state agencies are required to provide these forms to everyone they interact with, including non-citizens, without adequate verification tools.

In an Executive Order on Promoting Access to Voting, the White House outlines that the Constitution and U.S. laws prohibit racial discrimination and protect voting rights. The National Voter Registration Act of 1993 established that federal, state, and local governments must promote voting rights. According to Whitehouse.gov, executive departments and agencies are encouraged to collaborate with state, local, Tribal, and territorial election officials to safeguard voting rights, eliminate discrimination and other barriers, and enhance access to voter registration and accurate election information. This ensures that voting and registration are straightforward and accessible for all eligible individuals.

Murphy is currently serving his third term representing North Carolina’s Third Congressional District, which includes significant regions of Eastern North Carolina. He holds key positions on committees including the House Ways and Means Committee, the House Veterans Affairs Committee, and the Committee on House Administration. Additionally, he co-chairs the House GOP Doctors Caucus.
