Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., issued a statement following his vote in favor of H. Res. 1371, which condemns the Biden-Harris Administration and Border Czar Kamala Harris for their handling of border security.
"Vice President Kamala Harris was tapped to manage the southern border at the beginning of the Biden-Harris Administration," said Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. "Immediately upon assuming this responsibility, our historic Border Crisis was triggered. Harris inherited a secure border from the Trump Administration but capitulated to those in her party who demand open borders and lax law enforcement for illegal immigrants. Her willful negligence has been devastating for our country."
Murphy further elaborated on the consequences he attributes to Harris's management: "Criminal illegals have taken innocent lives across America, fentanyl is pouring in and over 100,000 individuals now die from drug overdoses each year. Moreover, our legal immigration process has been defiled and the sovereignty of our nation has been eroded. The invasion of our southern border is composed of individuals from all over the world, including Chinese nationals whose encounters have increased by over 8,000 percent since Harris became the Border Czar. Vice President Kamala Harris owns this crisis; her complete failure and dereliction of duty is simply unbecoming of the office she holds."
According to data presented under the Biden-Harris Administration:
- At least 10 million illegal immigrants have been encountered nationwide.
- Nearly 2 million "known gotaways" have evaded U.S. Border Patrol.
- Over 350 individuals on the terrorist watchlist have been encountered at the southern border.
- Border Czar Harris only visited the border once in the last 3.5 years and has not spoken with the last two Customs and Border Patrol Chiefs.
- Mexican cartels now make $13 billion a year smuggling illegal immigrants into America—26 times what they made in 2018.
