Today, Congressman Greg Murphy announced his upcoming visit to Asheville, North Carolina, and nearby areas. The purpose of the visit is to assess the damage caused by Hurricane Helene and observe recovery efforts in progress.

Congressman Murphy emphasized the importance of mutual support between Eastern and Western North Carolina during natural disasters. "Eastern North Carolina has a history of devastating natural disasters," said Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. "In those situations, Western North Carolina has been there to support us and we will do the same for them."

Murphy highlighted his experience in disaster recovery efforts, including his role as a physician after Hurricane Katrina. He also mentioned hosting an annual summit focused on flood mitigation. "I understand the complexities of these situations and hope to be helpful in dealing with this catastrophe," he stated.

Accompanying Congressman Murphy on this trip are Senators Tillis and Budd, Congressman David Rouzer (NC-07), and North Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture Steve Troxler.
