Congressman Greg Murphy recently expressed support for an executive order issued by President Donald Trump aimed at reducing drug prices. Murphy highlighted the disparity in healthcare spending between the United States and other developed nations, noting that the U.S. spends nearly twice as much. He stated, "Despite being the center of innovation and having immense resources, America spends nearly twice as much on health care compared to other developed nations."

Murphy noted that the executive order was a step toward reversing what he described as the "IRA’s innovation-killing pill penalty" and mentioned that it aligns with efforts in Congress, referencing the EPIC Act. The executive order also aims to ensure that care is not diverted from cost-effective doctors' offices and to enhance transparency regarding prescription drug benefits for Americans.

"I applaud President Trump for taking meaningful steps... and bring transparency to Americans' prescription drug benefits," Murphy said. He expressed his intention to collaborate with the administration to implement the order's directives and pursue long-term reforms focused on prioritizing patients. Murphy concluded, "I look forward to working closely with the administration to deliver on the directives made in the President’s executive order and enact lasting reform that puts patients first."
