County of Greene issued the following announcement on Jul. 12.
Greene County has been selected by Babe Ruth Baseball to host the 2021 Southeast Rookie Regional Baseball Championship 9-year-olds at the Greene County Sports Complex from July 13 to 18, 2021. State champions from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia, along with the host team from Greene, will compete for the championship and qualify for the Babe Ruth World Series in Ocala, Florida.
The opening ceremonies are Wednesday, July 14, with games immediately following. Food and souvenirs are available for purchase throughout the tournament.
Teams continue tournament play through the remainder of the week with the championship game scheduled for Sunday, July 18.
