Cookbook

Pitt County Health Department issued the following announcement on Mar. 14.

The Pitt County Health Department, in honor of National Nutrition Month, will host several activities for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) participants throughout the month of March. The main focus of National Nutrition Month this year is to “Celebrate a World of Flavors!”  The message encourages everyone to enjoy flavors from different cultures and appreciate the diversity within our various cuisines.

Cooking kits will be provided for participants who are already enrolled in the WIC Program. The kits include a reusable shopping bag, a measuring set that includes cups and spoons, a small cutting board, a potholder, a bag clip, and a sandwich spreader/citrus peeler. This initiative will be used to support nutrition education and preparation of healthy cooking concepts. Participants will also receive goody bags and recipes. WIC recipients can pick up the cooking kits on a walk-in basis at Pitt County Health Department, Monday – Friday from 9:00 am – 11:00 am and 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm, throughout the month of March. The cooking kits will be available on a first come, first served basis, while supplies last.

WIC recipients can call the WIC department at 252-902-2393, for more information.
