Washington, D.C. - Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. has expressed his frustration with the current state of the appropriations process and the potential for a government shutdown. In a statement issued today, Congressman Murphy highlighted the importance of avoiding a shutdown, particularly in these "increasingly dangerous times around the world."

Congressman Murphy acknowledged the difficult position Speaker Johnson finds herself in, with a razor-thin majority in the House. He stated, "Myopic obstructionism has delayed our appropriations process. Speaker Johnson, with a razor-thin majority, has been put in an extremely untenable position." He emphasized that a government shutdown would have serious consequences, including degrading the ability of the military to keep the nation and its interests safe and secure.

Despite his frustration with Senate Democrats, who he believes are standing in the way of protecting access to healthcare for seniors, Congressman Murphy voted in favor of the continuing resolution. His vote was motivated by the desire to allow time for the appropriations process to occur and ensure conservative wins in this year's budget. He stated, "While I am frustrated that Senate Democrats are standing in the way of protecting access to health care for seniors, we must allow time for the appropriations process to occur. I voted for the continuing resolution so that we can move forward and deliver conservative wins in this year's budget."

As the appropriations process continues, Congressman Murphy remains committed to protecting the interests of his constituents and delivering on conservative priorities.
