Murphy Announces Winners of 2024 Third District Congressional Art Competition

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. (NC-03) has revealed the winners of the 2024 Third District of North Carolina Congressional Art Competition. The event, aimed at high school students, provides a platform for young artists to display their talents, with the winning artwork from each district being exhibited in the Cannon Tunnel to the Capitol in Washington, D.C.

This year's theme, "Scenery of Eastern North Carolina," inspired the students to showcase their creativity and artistic skills. The results for the Third District competition are as follows:

1st Place: Miles Hulka, Arendell Parrott Academy

2nd Place: Henry Quinn, Quinn Academy

3rd Place: Aeryn Hood, Croatan High School

Honorable Mention: Sicily Thurman, Swansboro High School

In response to the remarkable submissions, Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., expressed his admiration, stating, "Congratulations to Miles, Henry, Aeryn, Sicily, and the rest of this year's participants for your incredible work to illustrate the immense beauty of Eastern North Carolina." He also acknowledged the dedication of all students who participated in the competition, emphasizing his appreciation for their efforts.

Furthermore, Congressman Murphy extended his gratitude to the panel of judges, as well as the Craven Arts Council and Gallery in New Bern for their contributions in organizing the event. He also recognized Transportation Impact for their sponsorship, which played a crucial role in making the Congressional Art Competition a success.

The winning artworks will now have the opportunity to grace the Cannon Tunnel in the Capitol, representing the talent and creativity of young artists from the Third District of North Carolina.
