North Carolina State Representative Gregory F. Murphy has asserted that the EDUCATE ACT highlights the necessity to extricate progressive politics from medicine. He emphasized that leaders in the medical domain must condemn such activities.

"For those who are upset with the EDUCATE ACT, here is a perfect example of why we must get Progressive Politics out medicine," said F. Murphy, according to X. "The leaders of medicine must condemn this type of activity."

Murphy's statement was a reaction to a report by the Washington Free Beacon concerning UCLA Medical School's compulsory "Structural Racism and Health Equity" class. The course, initiated following George Floyd's death, mandates all first-year medical students' participation. A required reading criticizes capitalism, branding it as an evil that propagates inequality, while others condemn "racial capitalism" and advocate for transcending capitalism for public health's benefit, according to the Washington Free Beacon.

According to a press release by House.gov, Murphy has proposed the EDUCATE Act, aiming to eradicate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) requirements in medical education. This bill intends to cease federal funding to institutions enforcing specific beliefs or racial discrimination while also compelling accreditation agencies to inhibit DEI-related practices. Furthermore, it allows instruction on race-related health issues and research data collection without endorsing discriminatory practices.
