Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., issued a statement following his meeting with United States Secretary of Veterans Affairs Denis McDonough and Executive Director of Pharmacy Benefits Manager Services Dr. Thomas Emmendorfer.

"Yesterday afternoon, I met with Secretary McDonough to discuss a range of issues facing America’s veterans and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)," said Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. "I addressed the procurement of safe drugs from non-domestic sources such as India and China, the electronic medical records pilot program’s pause, significant cost overruns, and the adoption of lifesaving hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). As the representative of 76,000 veterans, it is my duty to advocate for more adequate and quality care for our veterans who have made many sacrifices. I conveyed the dissatisfaction of many veterans in my district, and across the country, with the VA’s management and my commitment to pursuing meaningful solutions to these issues."

Murphy expressed gratitude towards McDonough for visiting his office in Washington, D.C., and for listening to his concerns. "As a member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs," he stated, "I will not stand by while our cherished veterans struggle to receive the care they are entitled to. The VA is failing in many unacceptable ways. We have a lot of work to do, and I look forward to collaborating with the Secretary to make the department more responsive to our veterans’ needs."
