Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery to honor those who have sacrificed their lives for the United States.

"America will never forget the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom," stated Congressman Murphy. "It was my privilege to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to honor those who have not been found or identified, as well as those from North Carolina's 3rd Congressional District who are no longer with us. Our district is home to Camp Lejeune, Cherry Point, and New River Air Stations, and over 76,000 veterans. The cost of war is great, and Eastern North Carolinians understand this so very well. I will always stand up for our troops, past and present, and their families, who have valiantly answered the call to serve our great nation."

Arlington National Cemetery serves as the final resting place for more than 400,000 veterans and their family members. During his visit, Congressman Murphy laid a wreath accompanied by his wife Wendy and nine staff members, four of whom are veterans.
