Congressman Greg Murphy introduced the Down East Remembrance Act to honor the victims of a plane crash in Carteret County in 2022. The legislation was introduced alongside Senators Thom Tillis and Ted Budd. It identifies specific locations that will be named after the six victims.

"We remember and honor the six victims of the devastating plane crash in Carteret County on February 13th, 2022," said Congressman Murphy. "Eastern North Carolina continues to mourn the loss of these individuals. Through this legislation, we memorialize their lives and legacies, and may God grant peace to their families."

The plane crash occurred off the coast of Carteret County on February 13, 2022. The Down East Remembrance Act includes precise latitudes and longitudes for six creeks on federal land to be renamed after passengers Noah Styron, age 15; Hunter Parks, age 45; Kole McInnis, age 15; Stephanie Fulcher, age 42; Jacob Taylor, age 16; and Daily Shepherd, age 15.
