State Rep. John Bell (R-Greene County) thanked farmers, truck drivers, grocery store workers and warehouse employees putting their health at risk to keep our food and supply lines open during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Bell's thanks to these workers represent a growing number of people showing appreciation to those employees, while also continuing to support health care workers and first responders.

"In addition to our health care workers, a huge shout out to all our farmers, truck drivers, grocery workers and warehouse employees who are putting their own health at risk to keep our food and supply lines open," Bell shared on his Twitter. The Bureau of Labor Statistics said that more than 1.8 million Americans are truck drivers.

Bell is also encouraging donations of personal protective equipment and medical supplies to aid North Carolina's response to the coronavirus, according to his Facebook page. Critical supplies include respirators, surgical and procedural masks, gowns, nitrile gloves, face shields, eye protection, shoe covers, surgical masks, hand soap, disinfecting spray and wipes and hand sanitizer.

To help, send an email with your company's information to vendorhelp.COVID19@dhhs.nc.gov. More information about volunteering or donating items can be found here.
