COUNTY OF GREENE: Convert Hwy 123 N. at Fourway Rd. and Ormondsville Rd. To An All-Way Stop

Allwaystoppic

County of Greene issued the following announcement on Aug. 21.

N.C. Department of Transportation crews will convert Hwy 123 N. at Fourway Rd. and Ormondsville Rd. to an all-way stop in the coming weeks. Currently, drivers on Hwy 123 N. do not stop.

Why Install an All-Way Stop?

An all-way stop is an efficient and cost-effective way to improve the safety of an intersection and reduce the risk of serious crashes. Converting intersections into all-way stops has been shown to reduce fatalities and injuries by 77 percent. The N.C. Department of Transportation recommends an all-way stop only after a thorough evaluation of the intersection. The evaluation includes an analysis of the traffic volumes, crash history, sight distance, and a field investigation.
