COUNTY OF GREENE: Matt Sasser Appointed as Sheriff by Greene County Commissioners

County of Greene issued the following announcement on Mar. 14.

Former Greene County Sheriff Lemmie Smith announced his retirement in February after more than 38 years of service.

On Monday, March 7, the Greene County Board of Commissioners voted to appoint Matt Sasser as the Sheriff of Greene County. Sasser has served with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office since September 2007 in the roles of Deputy, Investigator, Lieutenant, Major, and Chief Deputy.

Sasser will be sworn in as Sheriff on Monday, March 14 at 8:30 a.m. at the Greene County Courthouse. The public is welcome to attend.
