COUNTY OF PITT: Public Hearing: Zoning Ordinance Amendments on June 15, 2022

Publichearing

County of Pitt issued the following announcement on June 9.

The Pitt County Planning Board will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at or after 5:30 p.m. in the Eugene James Auditorium in the County Administration Building located at 1717 W. 5th Street, Greenville, N.C. to consider several proposed amendments to the Pitt County Zoning Ordinance.

Pitt County is proposing to amend the Pitt County Zoning Ordinance, including the Table of Permitted Uses.   The proposed amendments will change all “Class 1 Special Uses” which require a quasi-judicial hearing by the Pitt County Board of Commissioners to “Conditional Zoning Districts” which will require a legislative hearing by the Board of Commissioners.  Several additional amendments to the Zoning Ordinance are also proposed in order to comply with legislation recently adopted by the North Carolina General Assembly, as well as to maintain consistency with other development-related ordinances.  The purpose of this public hearing is to gather public comment and input on the proposed amendments prior to the Planning Board forwarding a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners.

For more information on the proposed amendments, please contact Pitt County Planning and Development at 252-902-3250.  Those persons unable to attend the hearing may submit written questions or comments to the Pitt County Planning Department before the meeting.  The mailing address is: Pitt County Planning Department, 1717 West Fifth Street, Greenville, NC 27834.  All meetings can be viewed by the public on PittTV (Suddenlink Cable Channel 13) or the Pitt County YouTube channel (www.YouTube.com/PittCountyNC).
