County of Pitt issued the following announcement on June 20.
The Pitt County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Monday, July 18, 2022 at or after 6:00pm regarding proposed amendments to the Pitt County Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance. These amendments will allow Pitt County and the Municipalities of Ayden, Bethel, Grifton, Grimesland, and Simpson to remain in compliance with the requirements of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and will allow these communities to maintain their current ratings in the Community Rating System (CRS.) This hearing will be held in the Eugene James Auditorium on the second floor of the County Administration Building located at 1717 W. 5th Street, Greenville, N.C.
The purpose of the public hearing is to gather public comment and input on the proposed amendments to the Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance prior to the decision by the Board of County Commissioners. The proposed amendments are available for public review at the Pitt County Planning Department Floodplain Management website, https://www.pittcountync.gov/295/Floodplain-Management. Citizens interested in obtaining additional information on the proposed amendments should contact the Pitt County Planning Department (252-902-3250).
Those persons unable to attend the hearing may submit written questions or comments to the Pitt County Planning Department before the meeting. The mailing address is:
