COUNTY OF PITT: Public Hearing Notice: Pitt County Zoning Ordinance Amendments

County of Pitt issued the following announcement on Aug. 29.

The Pitt County Board of Commissioners will hold public hearings on Monday, September 12, 2022, at or after 6:00 pm in the Eugene James Auditorium in the County Administration Building located at 1717 W. 5th Street, Greenville, N.C. to consider the following requests:

  • Rezoning request by Affordable Communities Group, LLC to rezone 4.47 acres of property owned by Tranters Creek Opportunity Zone, LLC from Rural Agricultural (RA) to General Commercial (Conditional District) (GC(CD)) to allow operation of a self-storage warehouse with outside storage.  The subject property is identified by the Tax Assessor’s Office as Parcel Number 25251, and is located on the southern side of SR 1567 (Clarks Neck Road), west of its intersection with SR 2400 (Gresham Lane) in the Pactolus Township.
  • Request by Sawyer’s Property Management Group to amend the Pitt County Zoning Ordinance to change the minimum setback for Go-Cart Raceways.  The amendment as proposed will require a minimum setback of 200 feet from any residentially-zoned property, and a minimum setback of 500 feet from any lot upon which an existing residence is located.
The purpose of these public hearings is to gather public comment and input on the proposed requests prior to consideration by the Board of County Commissioners.  Citizens interested in obtaining additional information on these requests should contact the Pitt County Planning Department at (252) 902-3250.  Those persons unable to attend the hearings may submit written questions or comments to the Clerk to the Board before the meeting.  The mailing address is: Clerk to the Board, Pitt County, 1717 W. 5th Street, Greenville, NC 27834.  All meetings can be viewed by the public on PittTV (Suddenlink Cable Channel 13) or the Pitt County YouTube channel (www.YouTube.com/PittCountyNC).
