Congressman Greg Murphy has issued a statement regarding the crisis of homes being swept into the ocean in Rodanthe, North Carolina. He expressed his concerns about the current policy under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

"The fact that homeowners have to wait until their property falls into the ocean before they can utilize the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) is ridiculous," said Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. "Every additional home that is swept into the sea understandably concerns individuals who want to see action taken."

Murphy highlighted his ongoing efforts in Congress to push for legislative changes through his Prevent Environmental Hazards Act. The proposed act aims to allow those insured by NFIP to take preventive measures before an emergency occurs.

"I continue to advocate vigorously in Congress for My Prevent Environmental Hazards Act which would allow folks insured by the NFIP to act before an emergency occurs," Murphy added. "This is better for those with at-risk homes, and would save taxpayer dollars and protect the environment."
