Congressman Greg Murphy joined President Donald Trump and members of the North Carolina congressional delegation on a visit to Asheville and surrounding areas in Western North Carolina. The group assessed the damage caused by Hurricane Helene and discussed ways to enhance federal response efforts for displaced residents.

Congressman Murphy expressed gratitude for President Trump's visit, stating, "I am grateful to President Trump for making his first trip back in the White House to Western North Carolina to see firsthand the destruction wrought by Hurricane Helene and the long road to recovery." He emphasized the severe impact on local communities, noting that rebuilding could take at least a decade.

Murphy highlighted the ongoing support from Eastern North Carolina, saying, "Eastern North Carolina uniquely understands the tragedy of natural disasters and continues to step up to help our neighbors out west." He reaffirmed his commitment to aid efforts, adding, "I proudly supported robust aid to help these folks make a full recovery and am heartened to know that Western North Carolina will not be forgotten by this administration."
