Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., representing North Carolina’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently shared insights into his legislative priorities and concerns through a series of tweets. Murphy, who succeeded Walter B. Jones Jr. in 2019 and previously served in the North Carolina House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019, addressed issues related to senior care, taxpayer money management, and women’s sports.
On February 19, 2025, Congressman Murphy highlighted his commitment to supporting seniors in Eastern North Carolina after meeting with AARP representatives. He emphasized his dedication to ensuring access to affordable healthcare for this demographic: "I had a wonderful meeting with @AARPNC representatives to discuss policies that support our seniors in Eastern North Carolina... I will not let up my fight to ensure their needs are met, especially concerning access to high-quality, affordable health care."
Later that day, he addressed the importance of responsible use of taxpayer funds following discussions with NYU Langone Health. Expressing appreciation for their transparency and effective practices, he urged other medical institutions and insurers to follow suit: "Ensuring good stewardship of taxpayer dollars is important... Thank you to @nyulangone for answering all my questions and alleviating my concerns by sharing the impressive work you and your team do."
In another tweet on February 19th, Congressman Murphy voiced concerns about the NCAA's role in protecting women in sports. He suggested reevaluating their non-profit status due to perceived inadequacies: "Guess if the NCAA is not going to protect Women in sports by allowing loopholes, we need to look at their Non-Profit status."
