Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., representing North Carolina's 3rd congressional district since 2019, recently shared a series of tweets addressing voting rights, public recognition of local first responders, and the health care system.

On April 10, 2025, Murphy emphasized the importance of fair and transparent elections, noting concerns about noncitizens voting in some local jurisdictions. He declared his support for the SAVE Act by tweeting: "Free and fair elections are fundamental to American democracy. Unfortunately, some local jurisdictions have allowed noncitizens to vote in their elections. I voted YES on the SAVE Act to require proof of citizenship to register to vote for federal elections and to clean up our."

Subsequently, on April 12, 2025, he acknowledged the exceptional bravery of first responders in Jones County. His commendation extended to Jared Mercer, a citizen recognized for lifesaving efforts during a house fire. Congressman Murphy tweeted: "Congrats to the Jones County first responders recently recognized for their exceptional commitment and bravery, including good Samaritan Jared Mercer, who selflessly saved a life earlier this year in a house fire. Thank you all for your service!"

Later that day, Congressman Murphy shared details about a hearing conducted by the Health Subcommittee of the Ways and Means Republican Caucus. The hearing focused on challenges faced by biosimilar drugs. Expressing his concerns about Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), he tweeted: "The @WaysandmeansGOP Health Subcommittee held a hearing examining roadblocks to new biosimilar drugs. PBMs (Pharmacy Benefit Managers) are effectively forcing patients to take more expensive medicines so they can make profits for their insurance company."

Congressman Greg Murphy, born in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1963 and currently residing in Greenville, has served in the U.S. Congress representing North Carolina's 3rd District since 2019. He succeeded Walter B. Jones Jr. and previously served from 2015 to 2019 in the North Carolina House of Representatives. Murphy is a Davidson College alumnus, graduating with a BA in 1985.
