County of Pitt issued the following announcement on Oct. 7.
Monthly breastfeeding support groups and breastfeeding classes will resume in-person activities at the Pitt County Health Department (PCHD).
M.O.M.S. (Mothers of Milk Support) Breastfeeding Support Group is a monthly discussion group led by WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Breastfeeding Peer Counselors who provide encouragement and support for pregnant or breastfeeding women, their partners, and anyone interested in learning more.
Participants can make peer connections and enjoy a healthy snack. M.O.M.S. Support Groups are held on the third Tuesday of the month from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A virtual option will also be available. Call 252-902-2382 or 252-902-2418 to receive the link to attend virtually.
Free Breastfeeding Classes will resume October 4, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. at the PCHD. Moms-to-Be are encouraged to attend during their pregnancy to learn more about breastfeeding and have any questions addressed. A WIC Nutritionist and Breastfeeding Peer Counselor are present during these classes to guide and provide resources. These classes are held the first Tuesday of each month beginning at 6:30 p.m.
