Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., currently representing North Carolina’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently used his social media platform to address various national issues. Through a series of tweets, Murphy has shared his thoughts on military families, retirement benefits for first responders, and changes in Medicare plans.

"On Gold Star Spouses Day, we remember the immense sacrifices military families make for our nation. May God grant strength and peace to those spouses who have lost their partner in service to our country. May God bless them." This tweet, posted on April 5, 2025, highlights the sacrifices made by military families and offers blessings to those who have lost a spouse in service.

On April 7, 2025, Murphy discussed legislative priorities regarding retirement benefits for first responders. He tweeted, "My First Responders Retirement Parity Act ensures full-time, nonprofit firefighters and EMS personnel can access our state's pension plan. It is long overdue for these heroes to access the benefits they deserve." Murphy emphasizes that this act addresses a longstanding issue by giving nonprofit emergency workers access to state pension plans.

The same day, Murphy also expressed concern over changes to Medicare plans, stating, "Medicare Advantage plans got a 5% raise today. Yet the Doctors, who are the ones who actually care for the patients GET CUT every year. This is RIDICULOUS." This comment reflects his disapproval of the system where benefits to healthcare providers do not reflect the raises enjoyed by Medicare Advantage plans.
