COUNTY OF PITT: N.C. Named 2020 Triple Crown Winner

County of Pitt issued the following announcement on Oct. 17.

Manager Janis Gallagher announced at the October 17, 2022 Pitt County Board of Commissioners meeting that the County has been named a 2020 Triple Crown Winner by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).

“This award demonstrates Pitt County’s continuing commitment to transparency and excellence. Pitt County is fortunate to have a financial services team that is top notch - serving the public utilizing best practices in financial management. We are grateful to be recognized for these efforts,” says Janis Gallagher, Pitt County Manager.

The Triple Crown recognizes local governments that have met the high standards of the separate GFOA awards during a single fiscal year: Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.

“I am honored to be a part of a great financial services team who worked hard to achieve this award. Also, I am proud of Pitt County’s commitment to providing award-winning financial reports and budgets,” says Sam Croom, Deputy County Manager/Chief Financial Officer.

These reports, prepared by Financial Services, are designed to  communicate the County’s financial narrative to the public in a transparent and accessible manner.  Pitt County is among the 317 entities honored for fiscal year 2020.
