Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., currently representing North Carolina’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates on disaster recovery efforts via social media. His posts highlight the ongoing response to a recent disaster and his commitment to securing necessary relief funding.

On November 16, 2024, Congressman Murphy tweeted about the active involvement of heavy equipment in debris cleanup efforts following a disaster. He noted that "Hundreds of dump trucks, backhoes, and other heavy equipment are actively assisting with debris cleanup." Additionally, he mentioned that disaster recovery shelters remain operational for affected residents and federal assistance services are available.

In another tweet on the same day, Murphy expressed his dedication to supporting long-term recovery efforts. He stated that "The road to recovery will be long, but I am dedicated to supporting the necessary disaster relief funding so the good people of WNC can rebuild and heal."

Furthermore, Congressman Murphy detailed his collaborative efforts with fellow Representative Chuck Edwards in advocating for additional federal support. In a tweet posted concurrently on November 16, he mentioned joining forces with Rep. Edwards to urge President Biden to prompt the Office of Management and Budget for more funds. Murphy emphasized the urgency by stating: "Our communities need this assistance now, not later."
