Greg Murphy raises concerns over DEI policies and national security

Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., representing North Carolina’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently shared his concerns on social media regarding the direction of medical education and national security. In a series of tweets, Murphy criticizes the implementation of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in medical schools and emphasizes the importance of addressing drone sightings as potential security threats.

On December 10, 2024, Congressman Murphy expressed his disapproval of DEI initiatives in medical education. He stated: "The fact that the institutions of Medical School education are still pushing DEI is malpractice. They are destroying patients faith in their doctor’s competence and will ultimately cost lives. DEI is NOT what Medicine is about."

Later that day, he further elaborated on his stance against DEI policies by stating: "The Progressive Leftist political theology of DEI is polluting our Medical Schools. This divisive and anti scientific approach is going to lead to patient harm. Those who are directing this nonsense need to reverse course or resign."

Switching focus from domestic issues to national security concerns on December 11, 2024, Murphy addressed the potential threat posed by foreign espionage via drones: "We must take the threat of drone sightings very seriously. In 2023, negligence and inaction allowed a Chinese spy balloon to traverse our country before being eliminated. We cannot delay in protecting our security from foreign threats of espionage or harassment."
