On February 15, 2025, he posted about Roanoke Island's recognition as the first Purple Heart Island in America. He also commented on legislative efforts within the House of Representatives and celebrated Susan B. Anthony Day.
On February 15, Congressman Murphy announced "Congratulations to Roanoke Island for officially becoming America’s first Purple Heart Island! This proclamation is a well-deserved recognition of the sacrifices our veterans made for our country, and I am proud to represent those in Dare County."
