Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., has shared a series of tweets spotlighting issues in medical education and healthcare. Murphy, a practicing urologist, expressed concern over the focus and challenges faced within the field.

In a post dated April 14, 2025, Murphy criticized the current direction of medical education, calling it an “example of irresponsible leadership in Medical Education”. He expressed concern that medical residents are studying topics he considers irrelevant to patient care, connecting this to growing inquiries about NIH funding.

Later the same day, Murphy acknowledged a meeting with the American College of Surgeons via a post, stating, “as a practicing urologist, I understand the challenges American physicians face.” He appreciated their visit to discuss potential Congressional support for improvements in the field of medicine.

Additionally, Murphy criticized UnitedHealthcare’s practices in his tweet posted on April 14, 2025. He remarked, “imagine UnitedHealthcare going back on their word”, accusing the organization of engaging in predatory practices, which he argues are detrimental to patient care.

UnitedHealthcare is one of the large healthcare insurance companies in the United States.
