Congressman Greg Murphy, who represents North Carolina’s 3rd District in the U.S. Congress, recently shared a series of tweets that reflect his stance on higher education reforms and the responsibilities of public officials. Murphy, who previously served in the North Carolina House of Representatives, has been a vocal advocate for reform in several sectors since assuming office in 2019.

On April 1, 2025, Murphy expressed his views on the necessity for financial reforms within educational institutions. He stated, “Long overdue that Colleges and Universities start their own ‘Doge’ program of cost cutting and accountability. Get rid of useless majors and discriminatory DEI programs to start. The Federal spigot of Student loans to feed wasteful spending needs reform.”

Later the same day, at 18:44 UTC, he tweeted a succinct statement on his stance on public responsibility: “Responsibility before Fame”.

In a subsequent tweet at 20:10 UTC, Congressman Murphy elaborated on the duties of elected members of Congress. He stated, “Being voted by your constituents to be a Member of Congress is a great honor. It is dishonorable to put one’s personal desires above those of the country. This job is about service. Not self service.” Murphy’s comments highlight his commitment to serving the public and prioritizing national interests over personal gain.
